About the SCDC The Strategic Cross-sectoral Data Committee (SCDC) for Early Childhood, Education and Training was formed in 2010 following an agreement among senior officials from the Commonwealth and the states and territories to improve the coherence of statistics across early childhood education and care, schooling, vocational education and training, and higher education. The Committee supports development of common data standards, definitions and metadata across these sectors to facilitate data sharing and data integration. In addition, the Committee aims to ensure that there are robust data sets for comprehensive reporting on the delivery of education and training performance outcomes. The Committee works alongside the sector-specific data committees under the Ministerial standing councils for education and training. The SCDC is currently undertaking a review, being led by an independent consultant, as per the original Terms of Reference. Mission The Strategic Cross-sectoral Data Committee for Early Childhood, Education and Training contributes to the advancement of the evidence base for policy and public accountability by fostering the development of high quality, relevant and coherent statistics across all education sectors in order to facilitate the measurement of learning over the life-course through data sharing and data integration. SCDC Terms of Reference. Membership The SCDC comprises senior officials, with a balance across levels of government, jurisdictions, education sectors and information agencies.
