The SCH Online Tool - BETA version is a newly developed resource for business survey managers to help streamline the review process for your survey. This is a first iteration and is only recommended for use within Internet Explorer version 8 and 9 and Firefox browsing platforms. If you do not have access to these internet browsing platforms please use the paper based templates.
A BETA version of the SCH Online Tool is available for use by those who wish to utilise the new system.

Why SCH Online?
Following client feedback from the 2010 SCH review, the SCH Online Tool has been developed to bring an interactive, streamlined experience for survey managers.
The tool presents a new way of doing business with the SCH. The tool and newly developed templates aim to streamline the SCH template submission and review process.

How does the SCH review Australian Government business surveys?
The SCH independently assesses and reviews proposed business surveys in a two phased approach.
Scoping Phase
The Scoping phase determines if the survey requires an SCH review. This involves completing and submitting a brief SCH scoping temple via the SCH Online Tool. In most cases an instant scoping decision will be made, after successfully answering the scoping questions.
The scoping decision will determine whether the business survey requires a full SCH review. If the survey requires a full SCH review it proceeds to the second, detailed phase.
The outcome of the scoping template can be one of the following three options;
- Survey does not require an SCH review
- Survey is in scope of the SCH review process but because of the small load on providers, does not require a full SCH Review
- Survey is in scope of a full SCH review
SCH Review Phase
The SCH Review phase involves completing and submitting a detailed information template, along with the proposed questionnaire and other survey related documentation. The SCH Online Tool enables you to complete the newly developed template online. The tool has a file upload mechanism, which allows users to upload any material that is going to be seen by providers including covering letters, reminder letters, survey questionnaires and telephone instructions.
The SCH aims to work collaboratively and be responsive to agency time frames noting that new and/or complex surveys can take up to 20 days from receipt of all of the required material to be completed.
SCH approval is required prior to potential respondents being approached to participate in a proposed business survey.
